5 THINGS YOU WANT US TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR IMMEDIATE FAMILY

1. On a mountaintop in Colorado, I prayed for God to send a Godly man into my life. And I have been married to him for 27 years. Although I never expected to marry a minister, God has shown me countless blessings during these years. My greatest desire is that people accept me as I am—a woman with a lighthearted wit, who found joy in God’s Love and through the love of a Godly man.

2. I am honored to be a Representative for the Mississippi ACSCAN Program. As part of this nationwide, volunteer led organization, I will initiate cancer awareness projects in Mississippi and work alongside my state and federal elected officials advocating for cancer research, treatment, and prevention. Since Cancer is one of the Top 5 Chronic Illnesses in Mississippi and our nation, I felt called to take part in such an essential project of the American Cancer Society.

3. My grandmothers were influential women in my life, who practiced service and gratitude. The charitable ways that both women lived before me will forever indwell in my heart. My Granny taught me the meaning of unconditional love and a servant’s heart. My Mama Faye taught me to be a woman of faith and ingrained her strong will into my innermost being. I am honored to be the granddaughter of these loving, accomplished women.

4. I am passionate about education and taught at the secondary and university levels until I left teaching because of health issues. One of my greatest joys comes from watching students develop a love for the subject of History. Knowing that many of my former students are teachers today is one of my greatest accomplishments as an educator. Education is more than merely gaining knowledge. In today’s world, education is the foundation of a successful life.
